P0201 Injector Circuit/Open - Cylinder 1
Fuel and air
P0201 means the cylinder 1 fuel injector's electrical circuit is open or faulty, so that cylinder may not be getting fuel.
The engine computer has found an open or faulty electrical circuit for the cylinder 1 fuel injector, so that injector may not be firing.
Expect a misfire on cylinder 1. If the check-engine light flashes, stop driving to protect the catalytic converter; otherwise get it fixed soon.
Common causes
- An unplugged or corroded injector connector
- A broken wire in the injector harness
- A failed injector coil
- A fault in the injector driver inside the engine computer (rare)
Symptoms
- Misfire or rough running (often with P0301)
- Loss of power
- Check-engine light
What to check first
- Check that the injector connector is fully seated and not corroded.
- Measure the injector's resistance and compare with spec (and with the other injectors).
- Check for power at the injector connector with the key on.
- Inspect the harness for chafing, especially under the intake.
