P2463 Diesel Particulate Filter Restriction - Soot Accumulation (Bank 1)
Diesel emissions
P2463 means the diesel particulate filter (DPF) is clogged with soot that normal regeneration hasn't cleared.
The diesel particulate filter (DPF) has collected too much soot, and normal cleaning (regeneration) hasn't cleared it. Lots of short trips are a common cause.
Expect reduced power. Follow any regeneration instructions on the dash; if it can't regenerate, get it to a shop before the filter clogs completely.
Common causes
- Mostly short trips that don't let regeneration finish
- A faulty DPF pressure sensor or its hoses
- Problems preventing regeneration (EGT sensor, injector or other emissions faults)
- Excess soot from an engine problem (injectors, EGR, turbo)
Symptoms
- Reduced power
- DPF warning light or message
- More frequent regenerations, higher fuel use
What to check first
- Take a 20-30 minute highway drive if your vehicle's manual says that allows a regeneration.
- Check the DPF pressure sensor hoses.
- Have a shop run a forced (parked) regeneration with a scan tool.
- Fix any other engine or emissions codes that may be stopping regeneration.
