P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow "A" Circuit Low
Fuel and air
P0102 means the mass airflow (MAF) sensor's signal is too low, usually an unplugged or damaged connector or a failed sensor.
The engine computer is seeing a mass airflow (MAF) sensor signal that's lower than possible for a running engine, usually because the signal is missing, shorted or the sensor has failed.
Many engines run in a backup mode using other sensors, but may hesitate, idle rough or stall. Get it fixed soon.
Common causes
- An unplugged, loose or corroded MAF connector
- Damaged wiring to the MAF sensor
- A failed MAF sensor
- A blown fuse feeding the sensor (on some vehicles)
Symptoms
- Hesitation, stalling or hard starting
- Rough idle
- Poor fuel economy
What to check first
- Make sure the MAF connector is fully seated and the pins aren't corroded.
- Check the wiring for chafing, especially near the air box and intake.
- With the key on, check the sensor's power and ground as your service information describes.
- If wiring checks out, try cleaning the sensor, then replace it with a quality part.
