P0019 Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 2 Sensor B)

Engine timing

P0019 means the crankshaft and bank 2 exhaust camshaft signals are out of step, often a stretched timing chain.

On bank 2 of a V-engine, the camshaft B signal is out of step with the crankshaft beyond what valve timing can explain, often from timing chain stretch.

Can I keep driving? Not if you can avoid it.

Avoid driving if it rattles or runs badly; a stretched or jumped chain can damage the engine.

Common causes

  1. A stretched timing chain or worn guides
  2. A stuck or worn bank 2 cam phaser
  3. Low or dirty oil
  4. A failing cam or crank sensor (less common)

Symptoms

  • Check-engine light
  • Rattle at start-up
  • Rough running

Known problems: GM 3.6L V6 timing chain stretch

What to check first

  1. Check the oil.
  2. Check for timing chain service bulletins for your engine.
  3. Check cam/crank correlation values with a scan tool.
  4. Confirm timing before replacing parts.
